ABOUT THE PGDIT PROGRAM

The PGDIT Program is of 12 months duration. This program has 3 terms and 3 months duration each. The first two terms will have extensive courses and laboratory work including extensive hands-on problem solving and programming sessions and group work. The classroom lectures will be reinforced by immersion practical hands-on exercises/Lab in: Information Technology; Programming and Data Structures; Unix and Windows; Information Systems Developments; DBMS; Network Programming; E-Commerce, CASE Tools and others. The Institute is being well equipped with state-of-the-art library, computing, networking and multimedia labs with high-bandwidth Internet connections. A strong learner-centric ambience with IT facilitated interaction among students, and faculty through Web-based servers will be provided.

Each student will carry out a 10 weeks of project and thesis work jointly between the Institute and one of the IT industries or Research Lab or in the institute itself. The PG Diploma will be offered at the end of the successful conclusion of the Project work. By and large, the first PGDIT program is targeted at the Engineering students who do not have adequate background in Computer Science and Engineering. Students with Computing degree, but who want a thorough exposure to Information Systems and Technology will also find the courses useful. We expect that all students of the program will be well placed job-wise in the IT Industry before they graduate.

ADMISSION TO THE PGDIT PROGRAM


Eligibility Criteria:

Bachelors Degrees in any branch of Engineering/Technology or equivalent with at least 60% aggregate marks. Admission shall be open to students from both within and outside UK.

Students on the course take ten core modules and a dissertation. Examination of this material is at the end of each semester. 
Specific module offered within this PG Diploma may change to reflect developments in the rapidly changing area of Business Administration.   

Dissertation 

Provided that course members have reached an acceptable standard in the assessments and examinations they may undertake a dissertation. 
Work on a dissertation for a PG Diploma will usually involve an in-depth study in the area of Information Technology.  

Awards 

A PG Diploma awarded to students who achieve a high standard in the taught part of the course and submit a satisfactory dissertation. 
Students who do not achieve the required standard in the assessments and examinations may be awarded a Postgraduate Certificate if eligible.  

Entry Requirements 

Applicants should normally have a good honours degree (or foreign equivalent qualification) and be motivated to develop their understanding 
of the theory and practice of this complex and exciting area. A computing-related background may be advantageous, but is not a strict 
requirement. Any undergraduate qualification in a related discipline for candidates wishing to embark on this new direction or relevant 
industrial experience may be an appropriate substitute for candidates without a first degree.   

 
Application Deadline 

Complete application forms should reach the Admission Secretary no later than early August for the academic session starting late September 
of that year. Overseas applications are advised to apply early in the academic year and to provide the telephone number and fax numbers of 
two academic referees. Late applications (in July or August for the following September) should be faxed to the Admissions Secretary in 
addition to a postal appliation to ensure that they are considered as quickly as possible.
